Reference librarian Jon McConnel, who holds a Master’s degree in geography, teamed up with Whatcom anthropology teacher Al Reid to create a “rolled maps finding aid,” accessible to students and faculty. The purpose of this project was to make it easier for everyone to use the maps without needing to roll them out for each use.
Samantha Maiers, a Work Study student, unrolled each map and photographed each one for the finding number aid notebook. It is organized by box, row, and map number. The notebook can be checked out from the library for a period of two weeks.
