America is known as the melting pot of the world, where people of all cultures and races come to live together. The international country fair at Whatcom Community College on November 15 was no exception to this idea.
The event took place in the Syre Student Center, and featured a plethora of international grant students who came from a wide variety of different places.
“We’re here presenting our culture,” said Santosh Indu Shekar, a 20-year-old student from India.
The students were exhibiting a small portion of their ethnicity and were showing what living in their countries is like.
“We’re very loud people,” said 19-year-old Euashini Munsami from South Africa. “We’re also very comfortable with each other. In America, people are big on their personal space, but it’s really not a big deal in Africa.”
There were nine different countries being represented at the event, most of which had multiple students showcasing their culture.
