Street Law at Whatcom

 

Throughout winter quarter, on each Wednesday starting Jan. 29, Whatcom Student Legal Services will be providing information on civil and consumer law, debt collection practices, employment and family law, and more. Students may also be able to talk with a lawyer for free. Street Law runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Library in Heiner Hall.

 

iLead Workshops

 

For the winter quarter, iLead will be hosting leadership building workshops on the 6th and 20th of February and March. This upcoming workshop will be meeting to discuss team decision making skills. These workshops will take place in Syre 216 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Healthcare and You!

 

Larry Thompson, Executive Director of Whatcom’s Alliance for Health Advancement will be presenting an informational event to answer questions about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) now in effect. Thompson will explain the ACA and use examples to demonstrate how healthcare reform has influenced Whatcom County. This free event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 4 at Whatcom Community College.

Whatcom Students: Assemble!

 

At a fan appreciation event Feb. 5, the Orca basketball teams will compete against Skagit Valley College at the Pavilion gym. The Programming and Diversity Board and Whatcom’s Athletics department are hosting the event which will include mini-games and prizes. The game and event are free with a Whatcom Student I.D. card.

 

Central Washington University Information Table

 

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in the Laidlaw Center foyer, Central Washington University will have a booth set up to answer Whatcom students’ questions about Central’s programs and to provide useful information on transferring to a four-year college.
