Men’s and Women’s basketball teams have kicked off their seasons!
Men’s basketball had four games this past week and they went 3-1. The Orcas opened the season with a loss to Highline 84-72, but they have responded with three straight wins against Big Bend, Douglas College, and Northwest Indian College (in overtime). Tawrence Shoffner has led the way for the Orcas through four games averaging 29 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists.
Men’s basketball has two games this week against Wenatchee Valley and Yakima Valley.
Women’s basketball also played four games this week as they went 2-2. Whatcom recorded wins against Blue Mountain by a score of 82-80 behind Kaylee Wilson’s 27 points on 8-11 from 3-pt range, and Chemeketa by a score of 69-61 behind Neomi Davidson’s near triple-double as she recorded 22 points, 8 assists, and 14 rebounds. The Orcas would lose to Green River by a score of 86-75 and also to South Puget Sound by a score of 78-49.
Women’s basketball plays their next game Friday, Dec. 2nd against Big Bend at Everett Community College.
