On Nov. 13-14, WCC’s club Sustainability Oriented Students (SOS) held its annual Clothing Swap, where students were able to donate old threads and pick out new ones.
SOS President, Austin Williams, says the club’s desired end result was to get all extra clothing donated to We Care, a non-profit thrift working to make clothing more affordable.
The SOS club works to get more students and community members involved in sustainability practices, hosts community events, and actively encourages students to work with nature. Their mission is to work to establish equity and sustainability within the Whatcom Community College community.
In the past, the SOS has held hiking, camping, and community garden events – as well as the annual Clothing Swap – all community activities that benefit the earth by benefiting its occupants! Students interested in having fun while helping Whatcom become more sustainable are in luck: the SOS is actively looking for more members. Weekly meetings take place in Kulshan Hall 224 from 4-4:45 p.m.
