Whatcom and Northwest Opportunity Council team up
An early childhood education and assistance program (ACEAP) has been allowed to rent from the college using their childhood development center that was closed down last spring due to budget cuts. The program is state-funded and operates like a federally funded head start program, helping 18 to 20 low income families. It is not operated by the college and does not replace the CDC.
Communication Club Silent Auction/Trivia Bee
Returning soon is the communication club’s annual silent auction and trivia bee. It will be in the Syre auditorium on November 4. The auction starts at 6, and the trivia bee kicks off at 7.
International Education Week coming soon
With an increase of international students on campus this year (a total of 168 from 33 countries) Whatcom has something to celebrate! The week of November 15 to 19 is known as International Education Week. It is a joint effort between U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to celebrate the benefits of international education worldwide. During this week, several Whatcom students will be giving presentations about life in their home country. Contact Kelly Kester if you are interested in presenting.
Free help desk available
If you are having trouble with your home computer, drop by the help desk, located on the ground floor of Heiner outside the student access lab (room 105). Services range from instruction, to virus remover, general tune-ups and more. They will be available from 3 to 5 p.m.
