Fellowship Funds
The Campus Christian Fellowship was granted $945 to provide students with funding to go to an annual winter camp. The funding was for food, transportation, and shelter.
Let’s Rally!
On Jan. 27, a student rally will be held in Olympia, Washington, so that students from any community or technical college can go voice their opinions on any issues they have with college funding. A motion was passed to allow students $70 for snacks for the day. Any student who can’t attend the rally can write a letter with their concerns and have it brought to the rally.
Recreation
Whatcom Community College is planning to build a new recreation center on campus, and have been taking submissions from architects who are interested in building the new center. Submissions were due last week, and the college will be choosing an architect soon.
Yay for MLK day
About 95 students from Whatcom and Bellingham Technical College, almost double the turnout from last year, volunteered on Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 17.
Communication
The Communication Club has requested $1,000 for two students to go to Rochester, NY to present papers they wrote on media analysis and 30-second commercials. The students plan to present their papers and experience with the college upon their return. The motion will be voted on at the next council meeting.
Phi Theta Kappa
The Phi Theta Kappa club has requested $2,016 for students of the club to attend the 93rd annual International Phi Theta Kappa convention in Seattle, Washington. The motion will be voted on at the next council meeting.
