Salsa Time
In past quarters, the Spanish club has held salsa lessons for the student population, but this quarter they want to spice things up. They plan to have a two day session, starting with beginner’s salsa dancing the first day and intermediate salsa dancing on the second day. They also plan to have a fundraising bake sale within the next few weeks.
Bringing Whatcom to New York
The communication club was granted $880 for two students to travel to Rochester, New York to present extensive papers they wrote on the media. The students will be attending conferences along with presenting their papers, and will come back to Whatcom to share their experiences with the student population.
Phi Theta Kappa goes to Seattle
Phi Theta Kappa requested money to send four students to the International Phi Theta Kappa 2011 Convention in Seattle, Wash. in April. They were granted $1,136 for the event, and plan to do some fundraising to cover the rest of the expenses. The students plan to come back to Whatcom to share their experiences with students, and may develop a leadership workshop for anyone interested in attending.
